DESCRIPTION

The cloth is a viscose regenerated from bamboo pulp, blended with linen and woven in Italy. The viscose is what gives it the fall — a fluid, almost liquid drape that hangs away from the body rather than clinging to it — and it stays cool against the skin in humidity. The linen is there for texture, breaking up the surface so the shirt reads as cloth rather than as something slippery.

The collar is a camp collar, cut in one piece with no stand, so it lies flat and open at the neck. The body is cut loose through the chest, with a single patch pocket and a straight hem made to be worn out.

It belongs to the hottest part of the year, and to evenings that do not ask for a jacket.

• Viscose weakens when wet — do not wring or twist
