DESCRIPTION

Flax is hollow at the core, which is why linen cools: it draws moisture off the skin and returns it to the air almost as fast as it takes it up. Woven in Italy, light and plain, the cloth moves with any breath of air there is. It creases through the day, and that is the fibre being honest — linen that holds a flat press has been finished until it stopped behaving like linen.

The collar is a classic point, cut with enough length to sit well open or closed under a tie. A full placket, single-button cuffs, and a curved hem long enough to stay tucked. No chest pocket: the front is left clean.

It is the shirt that does the most work in a warm-weather wardrobe — under a jacket, or alone with the sleeves turned back.

• Machine wash at maximum 30°C, mild process
• Do not bleach
